My neighbours upstairs (I live in a flat) have been renovating for over a month now, first completely redoing their bathroom and now the living room. When I’m at home, I hear constant sawing/hammering/moving furniture etc, gets kind of irritating.

Hi, my Uncle is able to work, he is normal - in fact before he moved to England he used to work. Now that he is here, he gets benefits, he can’t be bothered to work and the Benefit fraud line says he is not committing fraud since he is getting the benefits legally.
He moved into a newly renovated 2 bed house a few yrs ago, and works when he chooses to, like one week every 3 - 6 months. Usually he does that when he wants to buy something like a Hi Fi, flat screen telly, expensive clothes etc.
He started a course at college and he quit 3 months before he was due to complete it - he was doing access to nursing.

He lied to the job ctr and DWP that he didn’t have a phone so when agencies want to call him they can’t, and they got him a new mobile. He even has a landline and they didn’t even check that.
I’m not bothered about how he chooses to live his life but my Grandparents in Africa need his help, even £20 per month would sustain them and he cannot help because he doesn’t work.
I help when I can, but I’m a full time student at Uni. My husband and I work hard and pay tax just so he can stay at home, drinking with his friends etc. Is this fair? What can we do to ensure whoever is responsible makes him work or get educated so he can work and stop relying on benefits?
My Grandparents don’t help him, they need his help. We have said several times but he ends up not answering when you call him. Even when we have family outings he can’t pay his way so someone has to lend him money and trouble comes when it’s time to pay back. We have just had enough, he gets angry on the phone if you mention work / college or anything and I think only the authorities would make him work. He used to work before he moved to England because he didn’t get benefits then. He is abusing the system but they said as long as he is not illegally claiming the benfits, they cannot do anything.
There ar no complicated facts about his life. He only moved here just over 5 yrs ago and prior to that he was working. Since coming to this country he gets housing benefits I think as well as unemployed benefits and I suppose whatever else he qualifies for - I am not sure as I have never claimed benefits.

Even if he is ill and we don’t know about it, physically he is fine - he can work. But he wont as long as benefits come his way.
Just to clarify - I DID NOT REPORT HIM!!! I made an equiry through the fraud benefits system. They do not know who I am and I did not give his name.
We have tried to help him, by sending college brochures, asking him what he is interested in studying, finding information for him etc - but he doesn’t want to know.
He was sent a letter before from the authorities, that’s when he actually took up the nursing course which he later quit.
I wouldn’t dream of getting my family into any sort of trouble but he is wasting away and maybe tough love will help?

RENT did make a stop in Houston in the late ’90s but since then: nothing. Not even a mention. I have only discovered RENT since the movie came out and am wondering if anyone out there has any info. Did something happen that made RENT not want to come back?

I’m a landlord and a potential tenant who wanted to move deciding to not move and told me 2 weeks later. Do I have to give their money back? I was left with no tenant now I’m having trouble paying my mortgage.
