US boyfriend (met internet Jan 2008 but have phone/photo/gift proof genuine relationship) refused first entry to UK April 2008 “insufficient funds/believed he would not return to US”. I visited US four weeks ago on Visa Waiver - proposed (SPONTANEOUS - Valentine’s week) AND married! Extended my visit one week to do so.
ME - returned to UK as per plane ticket and to file Visa etc properly but not sure if him to UK or me to US. I am 40, he is 28. After 22 years full-time office admin work, temporary sickness - on benefits for few months (back in work by end of year). No savings/other properties/other income - currently rent small studio flat in UK. Also have long term medical care needs - lifelong anti-coagulants for 2 cases of pulmonary embolism - requires regular monitoring.
HE - lives in US with long-term family friends (who own house) - have offered us accomodation 6 months/1 year/more to get on feet in US. Husband receives disability pension (SSI Survivors $1224 monthly) from late father (husband has Tourettes/OCDs - cannot work in normal environment). He will receive SSI forever, wherever he lives in world (true). Has no other income. Wants, and is trying for online business.So there is our situation. Not unlike a lot of people, I am sure. What are our best/fastest options? UK or USA?

Me and my wife just got married and are now living in an apartment where the apartment manager hires people with criminal records to do repairs. He wants us to be at home all the time when repairs get done and we can’t be there all the time. But that is just one complaint, we have now been living here for two weeks and no appliances work, no washer/dryer, stove, and dish washer which were promised to us weeks ago and manager said he will fix it all before we even moved in and keeps holding it off even further. We haven’t paid rent thus far but have put down our deposit of $300, we have called him several times and still get little or no help. Is this grounds for breaking a lease and also for a court action if leasor doesn’t obide by the terms of lease in which they do repairs and maintenance? What are my legal rights under Texas Law and how can I get something done? I feel that my landlord is being very cheap on us and hiring unprofessional people to do repairs. What can I do?

My grandmother has 8 acres of raw land (1.5 acres on frontage on one of the main streets in our city) that is paid for 100%. Her house is now on the land, but the zoning is going from residential to commercial, with strip malls, gas stations, apartment complexes and more. There are three lone holdout houses right next to one another. We have tried to sell the property a few times but the price is always too low because either the neighbor won’t sell, or someother mishap.
Since we carry no loan on the property, how can we develop it commercially and be able to get financing from a bank for doing so? Instead of selling it, we want to develop it into some sort of storefront, strip mall, or something. How can we secure the funding for this? I just heard in the same neighborhood that Starbucks pays $95,000 (and a profit %) per year for 20 years to the site owner - how can we score that?

Mt wife and I are separating, and I can’t afford to live where we stay now (apartment) , but I can afford to live somewhere else, I just don’t have the funds to actually move. The loan would be strictly for finalizing current utilities and start the process of moving (deposit, switching utilities, etc.). Note my credit is probably not great, but I have a secure job of 5 years and have a sufficient income. I greatly appreciate any advice. This is difficult enough as it is.

I currently moved out of my apartment of seven years. I was no longer living there but was still the lease holder for 2 more weeks and still had possession of the keys. Someone broke into the apartment, broke the glass out of the sliding glass door and took the other stationary half with them. My landlord states that since I am the current lease hold I am responsible to pay for the damage. The door was previously broken when I moved in and had never been repaired. I live in Colorado so I was curious if any one new what my rights as a renter are and what if any costs, if any, I am liable for. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Help please?! The houses in our street have sold in the last year for about 175-200k. The 198k one was apparently in tip top repair. The house I’m selling does need modernisation but is basically a good house. The USP is the garden. It is end of terrace and has a garden approx 3 times size of all the other properties in the street. One Agent valued it at 215k. He said the garden was the asset. The other valued it at 185k and said the garden was a good selling point but had no intrinsic value!
Agent 1 wants to WOW me with a high figure. Agent 2 works on a flat fee NOT a percentage. So they both have reason to go high (to Wow) and lolw (for quick sale). I have an interested buyer privately. My question is…what’s it really worth? COuld agent 1 be telling the truth? Maybe the garden really does load a premium? So …..can anyone tell me…Does the garden make a lot of difference to the price? Any Estate Agents help me to understand this pickle please? Obviously another valuation!

So, I have this interview at this newly renovated upscale hookah lounge, the place has a beautiful bar along with Mediterranean food. I was planning on wearing a pair of dark skinny jeans with black pumps, and this really nice black long v neck fitted sweater with somewhat flairy sleeves which are about elbow length from the store guess, my hair will be flat ironed out and nice, and a nice pair of earrings.

Is that nice, or should I dress more like black pants and white shirt type of things, only because I don’t like wearing and sort of pants that are not fitted or skinny.

I feel like the outfit I’ve chosen fits my personality, it’s not revealing or would give a bad impression the first time.

I have been renting for years and the usual procedure before you move in to a new flat is one month’s rent in advance and 6 weeks as a security deposit.
The letting agent organising our new flat wants it the other way round and I’m confused. They want 6 weeks rent in advance and a months security deposit.
Has anyone else had this and does it mean you only pay 2 weeks rent in month two?
