My friends son-in-law had his parents coming to visit him from California to Illinois. They were stranded in Wyoming and told the car cost too much to fix. so he drove in a rented vehicle from Illinois to Wyoming to pick them up and bring them to Illinois. How much do you think it cost to rent this mini van for a couple of days? I think he should take them back to California. What do you think?
To be exact, it is 1020 miles each way. I personally could not believe they plan to bring them back to Illinois for a mere 6 days.

I got my p60 this morning and it says i’ve paid £250.60 since starting at my current job in august last year. I work part time, 15 hours a week at £7.60. And i get paid on the last day of every month. So always 30th or 31st on a tues, thurs what ever it lands on. I earn under the limit for being taxed on wages and shouldn’t have been taxed in the first place.

I’m going to claim it back, but don’t know what form i’m looking for?
I can do it online which i was gonna do (but if i really have too i guess i’m gonna have to find my nearest HM R&C office) but there are so many to choose from.
Is it a self assessment form? I typed ‘tax return’ and ‘tax rebate’ in search box and am so confused about the whole thing! There are so many forms!

Also i used to work full time in a few different places 40 hours a week and more and i have never had a rebate. Should i have had one by now?

I’m 22 been working since i was 12, had two part time jobs through college and went full time in may 2003. Only went part time at my current job which i started in august last year. I rent a flat and live wv my bf who works full time. We have no kids. We don’t claim any benefits. Dunno whether any of this makes a difference!

My bf is in debt. We’ve been together 6 yrs. He pays child support for 2 kids which will be done in 3 more yrs. He’s got a court loan for about $6,000 and a credit card bal. of $4200. He doesn’t make good financial decisions, he just bought a Harley for $3000 because “it was a good deal.” He keeps saying after his support is done he’ll have more money. His mother has money and he says after his support is done she’s going to give him part of his inheritence. He and I both currently rent. I’m really getting tired of the apartment life. I don’t feel comfortable buying a house with all of my money, having him move in along with all of his kids stuff. Does this mean I’m selfish? I don’t feel I should pay part of his bills from him previous marriage. He’s getting eatin up w/monthly interest. I love him, but really wondering where I’m going to be w/him down the road. Help..

We had a grease fire in our kitchen that only damaged the kitchen, however there was a lot of smoke. The landlord asked us to move out during repairs. After a couple days we were notified that we have to move ALL of our belongings out of the apartment so they can replace the carpet and paint the walls and ceilings of the entire apartment. This seemed excessive to me but they said the insurance company said it was necessary. Also they are claiming that the insurance company may not be covering all these repairs which would make us responsible. My question is: During those 2+ weeks it will take to do these repairs when we are not able to stay in the apartment, what does California law say about getting a refund/prorated rent?
