rent flat uk

So im 18 and a full time student and i work part time. I want to rent a flat by myself due to circumstances at home. The council says Im not entitled to any benefits whatsoever (Meanwhile the wasters get everything under the sun i.e. money house etc. and the junkies get FREE taxis to get their FREE methodone because they spent HARDWORKING peoples tax money on drugs!!!!).

They say Im not allowed anything because Im doing a HND at college, but college is closed for almost 3months for summer so technically I wont be a student then…will I? Am i entitled to things like housing benefit during those 3 months Im “not a student”

Ive worked it all out and with the money I make I wouldnt be able to afford moving into a flat by myself until i went back to college in september but I dont think I can wait that long :-/

So wot I want to know is if Im entitled to anything … doesnt matter how small amount, in this case “every little helps” :p
hey i can work in the summer holidays but what i earn wont cover the cost of rent, gas, electricity, food etc. thats why i wanted to get housing benefit to make up part of my rent…considering they dont make junkies and wasters pay any rent i thought i would at least get some towards the cost of mine. Ive just decided to sit tight at home until “further notice” lol

Sell and Rent Back

flat mortgage

I am currently letting my flat to tennants. They have now expressed an interest in purchasing. However, I never informed the mortgage company that I would be letting the property out (I fell into money troubles because of a lost of job.) What are the reprecussions if I was to sell to them and what would be the best way to manage this (and the mortgage company?) Thanks.

I just moved in upstairs and the floors are carpeted, but really squeak when I walk on them. Can anyone give me a repair that can be done in an apartment? I can’t pull up the carpet.

US boyfriend (met internet Jan 2008 but have phone/photo/gift proof genuine relationship) refused first entry to UK April 2008 “insufficient funds/believed he would not return to US”. I visited US four weeks ago on Visa Waiver - proposed (SPONTANEOUS - Valentine’s week) AND married! Extended my visit one week to do so.
ME - returned to UK as per plane ticket and to file Visa etc properly but not sure if him to UK or me to US. I am 40, he is 28. After 22 years full-time office admin work, temporary sickness - on benefits for few months (back in work by end of year). No savings/other properties/other income - currently rent small studio flat in UK. Also have long term medical care needs - lifelong anti-coagulants for 2 cases of pulmonary embolism - requires regular monitoring.
HE - lives in US with long-term family friends (who own house) - have offered us accomodation 6 months/1 year/more to get on feet in US. Husband receives disability pension (SSI Survivors $1224 monthly) from late father (husband has Tourettes/OCDs - cannot work in normal environment). He will receive SSI forever, wherever he lives in world (true). Has no other income. Wants, and is trying for online business. So there is our situation. Not unlike a lot of people, I am sure. What are our best/fastest options? UK or USA?
Response to MadMan - thanks for the miserable answer! I don’t need to support him in the UK. He has his own money every month AND my sickness is temporary only, which is well in my favour.

Quick Property Sale
rent flat

I am moving for some years at least, with my wife and a newborn baby. I would be looking for a 2 bedroom flat to rent, in a nice, quiet place.
I am thinking to a budget in the £300 per week range.
I will be working in the city, and I would like to commute in no more than 30 minutes.
Nursery and school availability is also important. Is there a difference in quality depending on where you live in London?

Home Improvements on a Wooden Nickle?

renovate flat

Our house was built in 1977 in the original retirement area of Arizona. Since or home is just over 30 yrs old there is work that needs to be done…desperately.

The house was made by a couple who designed a 2 bedroom 1 bath house with a detached garage that stands 2 stories high. They both need desperate renovating. The upstairs apartment (above the garage) needs it. The main house needs it the most with some serious renovations as well. Pipes are old, our bath tub drain collapsed a few years back and we had to remove the tub to replace the drain pipe. The bathroom is smaller than most closets or laundry rooms.

The flooring is linoleum (kitchen and bathroom) and carpeting through the rest of the house. The kitchen cabinets are old and aren’t space efficient. The counter top is in bad condition and not leveled, due to the settling of the house I assume. The living room carpet is sooo old it is flat to the floor and looks like indoor outdoor carpet. I found some carpet remnants along the side of the road about 3-4 years ago which we cut to fit the high traffic areas. What can we do when there is no money?

I appreciate you thoughts and ideas on this situation. This is an old but beautiful house. There is a large barrel cactus in the front about 30ft tall and a staircase that leads to the second floor of the apartment above the garage from an old mine in Mesa.

I subleased my apartment to a girl and let her hold my security deposit. Now im struggling to get my security deposit back and I would like to get my last months rent from my lease (12 months rent) back due to I wont even be living there this july. Am I eligible to get this back? Since there is a new tenant? Isn’t their responsibility to cover their first last and sec deposit?
