how to protect your money from your family?

I ask this question because my GF is a college student, about to move out of the house and has a mother who enjoys spending her student grant and loan money (which yes is illegal) and pry’s into her mail for banking information etc. So, now that she is moving to her own apartment and will have a secure mailing location I am trying to help her take steps to secure her money from a mom who knows all the right information to possibly access her credit, checking, savings accounts. I am not sure if she and I have even thought of all the ways for her mom to acquire her money, so ideas are very welcome. Thank you.

1. Open up new accounts for the big money.
2. Password-protect the accounts using information unique to the GF (e.g., In what building is my English Composition class held on Wednesdays?)
3. Don’t have important mail come to your GF’s apartment. Rather, have it come to a mailbox (like UPS Store). (This will prevent your GF’s mother from stopping by the apartment looking for the mail.)
She should probably change bank accounts, change all online account access information (passwords), switch to paperless statements, change email passwords, get a new email address for important stuff.
To keep her mom from opening accounts in her name - not saying she would, but you never know - she should contact all three credit reporting agencies and put a freeze on her credit so no new accounts can be opened.
