I live in South East London and wondered if I have to have terrorism insurance to get a mortgage for my flat?

I have been told that some mortgage companies will not give mortgages without the property being insured for terrorism despite the fact we live in se26 in a small block of 12 flats and wondered if this was the case?

To my knowledge you can no longer GET terrorism insurance on most buildings insurance.
And your home insurance as a flat cannot be insured for terrorism. It has to be the buildings insurance which is for the whole block, and would be managed by the management company using your ground rent / service charge.
So, from your personal point of you, terrorism insurance shouldn’t be an issue.
No, your insurance won’t cover you for civil disturbance, acts of war, or acts of god.
When Gerry Adams, (SF IRA Terrorist Scum) blew up my street the Gov came and did the repairs
I’ve never heard of that having to be the case, but then I don’t live in London and I doubt the small village I live in is of any intrest to terrorist.
I have never heard of Terrorism Insurance, wonder if we have that here in US. You can probably ask your agent about that.
You have to be worried these days that the whole of London could be Irradiated. Personally I’d move out to the country.
Standard Buildings insurance is all you need for lenders (unless you are a flood area). Terrorism and acts of god are not covered on most buildings insurance policies. I have been to South East London, in fact I went to school there, I don’t recall too many acts of terrorism lol.
Suggest you talk to the bank you might want a mortgage from but as a former banker and now in business with a mortgage without terrorist insurance, I think you will find that terrorist insurance is not necessary for a residential mortgage.
ask a muslim terrorist if he is targeting you.
