Only if the guy falls out while working on it....lol. but seriously, that sounds like the window from a sliding glass door, probably double pane too. I'm guessing you or your family/guest is responsible for the damage and you want to see what it's going to set you back. I think our glass guy works at a set rate for windows by size so it should be the same there. I would try to work out a payment plan with the management there if it's out of your pocket.

Once you went past 3 floors the price is the same ... however I have to tell you that is a big piece of glass and to repair it on the 21st floor is gonna cost a pretty penny.

No, it shouldn't.

Re-glazing is the construction industry term for replacing the glass in a window. If the frame is still intact and the window can be replaced from the inside of the apartment and there is a way to get it up to that floor then it shouldn't cost more to replace it. A 7' X 5' window should still be able to fit in an elevator. A contractor can remove the frame and jamb holding the window from the inside of the apartment and then he should be able to replace it easily.

Check your local home supply center for a reputable contractor, some places will even do the work themselves. Any general contractor should be able to handle this easy job. I wouldn't try it myself unless you know what you are doing though because you want to get a good seal and make sure the window is square and level and it works as designed.

Apartment companies are responsible for their own maintenance and they replace their own windows. Normally they have someone on staff or a regular contractor who they use to do the job.

It shouldn't cost more, especially if it can be installed from the inside. I once experienced a rock go through my window on an upper floor and it was the same price.

If it's an apartment why is it your responsibility?

If it's a condo unit, then it would be covered under the homeowner's association, they cover all that stuff on the outside.
