Carpet is laid out in strips and is joined from underneath. If you have the whole area lifted and a carpet mender come in you can join a fresh straight cut in the bad area. Then when the carpet goes back down a patch will fill the closet area where there is not enough remaining to reach the wall. The poor cat needs to get at the mice there or needs a kitty litter box with a dead mouse in it. Maybe a cat jail box is needed if you lock it up during the day.

If you replace the carpet are you planning on getting rid of the cat? You know it will happen again. If the complex find out, they’ll make you replace the entire carpet. FYI
