Go to HomeDepot. And take a picture. You won’t get the answer you need here. Go to a proper hardware store like HD or Lowes. They’ll have inexpensive ways to fix your cabinets or improve the look. And it’s faster than waiting around all day for people to respond to your question and telling you to do the wrong thing.
There isn’t really a way to fix it. To cover it up, you can use wood cover sticks to conceal the damage somewhat. If you’re worried about getting a deposit back without paying for new cabinets, you might want to look into actually researching woodworking/restoration methods. I know there is a wood putty filler that can be used, but I don’t know much more than that.
Yes, you can get edge banding tape and apply it with an ordinary clothes iron. This tape comes as solid vinyl colours - to match modern veneers, or in natural woods like oak, maple and mahogany. These can be stained to match your cabinets. They all come in a variety of widths with heat sensitive glue on the back.
Purchase so the banding is slightly wider than what you need. Peel off the damaged banding off your cabinets. Use an iron at med temperature and even pressure to stick on the banding. You will see the glue melt and ooze slightly out the edge. Let cool for a couple of minutes. You can buy a handy trimmer for the edge or a sharp breakaway knife will work almost as good. Finish with a fine sanding block on a 45 degree angle.
It’s really pretty easy. Good Luck!!
