renovate flat
okay…me and my boyfriend of 4 years got a flat together 1 year ago and although we are still renovating it and have not moved in yet we are/were both excited about our future together. we could manage the flat on our wages and have been coping okay money wise until now (for background info im 19 and my boyfriend is 21) recently the company my boyfriend works for have had a overhaul and changed the way they are working, they have told my boyfriend he has to re-apply for his job, along with all the others in his department, and that the wages will be going down by £100 a week, this is awful on our budget but i have asked my boyfriend to apply for this job therefore we can probably scrape by money wise until something else comes up for him (he has another job oppurtunity in late april early may) he always said he was going to do so, today i spoke to him and he said that they had asked him to go in and apply but he wasnt going to, i said that he has to as there is no way we could keep the flat purely on my wages (its impossible!) he said that i am asking him to loose his dignity and that he is not going to apply (in other words he wants to do nothing until the job oppurtunity but by that time we will have lost the flat) i dont know what to do, we are on the verge of loosing everything we have worked for, and our future becuase he wont apply as he says it will loose his dignity. our conversation finished on him saying ‘im not going to apply and if you try to make me you are trying to make me give up my dignity’ i said ‘if you dont apply you are giving up the flat’
i feel like he is saying his dignity is more important that our future and everything WE as a couple have worked for, he never wants to talk about it and when i try it ends in a row, please help me
