Replace bath with shower cubicle. Bad idea?

I live in a small one bedroom flat in Melbourne’s inner south-east (Armadale) that was built in the 70’s. It has a very small bathroom/toilet that I’d like to renovate along with other improvements for future resale.
Do you think that only having a shower would affect the resale value of the flat very much?

you are also cutting out a lot of potential buyers doing that

I had to decide the same thing 5 years ago.I asked as many women I could, in different ages, and 80% said they took showers anyway.I put in a shower with a seat, and 2 shower heads.Everyone loved it and the house sold quickly.
I just did the same thing, for different reasons. I took the bath out and did a shower only. For resale, it will make a difference, but if it is a 1 bedroom, it’s more likely that a single adult will buy. As a female, I would prefer making the bathroom bigger and having a shower.
Yes most people like the idea of haveing a bath tub BUT they would rather have just a shower if it includes more room. Now if you had a big bathroom and want to just put a shower in it then it wouldn’t be a good idea but sense you have a small bathroom and takeing the tub out and putting a shower in would make the room larger then the value of the house wont go down any. It might even go up sense the bathroom has more space in it..I have been in construction for a long time and i have found out that women like the extra space more.
I’m male and prefer baths over showers.
However that is beside the point. Many older people or people with injures can’t stand for the shower. So you may with the aging population be cutting yourself off from a fair chunk of the resale market.
That said how about a French or Japanese style bath unit which takes up about the same space as a shower. Both are used in a sitting rather than a supine position so are not only smaller but safer.
If you only have 1 bathroom, keep the bathtub.
Keep the bath! We have just moved to a new house with 2 bathrooms, both with showers!!!!! Disaster!
