Sounds as if you have lost your way and have gotten stuck in the process. Life certainly isn’t easy, is it? You have a lot to offer and lots of people who care about you. You have a lot to be thankful for as I know you realize. Don’t give up on yourself. What you are meant to be doing will come to you in time. You’ve already done a lot with your life as far a trying to obtain your goals. If you really want to be a professor, and deep inside you know this, right, then it will happen. You have to find a way to make it work. Have you allowed yourself to fall into a depression when your life started to become so full of hardships? This could be the reason for your lack of motivation. If so, please get help. Talk to someone who can lead you in the right path. These hardships will only make you stronger if you don’t let them defeat you. If you keep trying things will fall in to place for you. Things will work out. I sincerely wish you all the luck in the world.

You were living your life for your PHD and your job and the money that you wanted to come along with it. Didn’t make you happy did it. Nothing wrong with those things but it’s not what life has in store for you. Hope you are truly open to advise. God is clearing the junk out of the way so he can get to you. He needs you. Maybe not a preacher or anything like that but he see’s some skills in you that he needs you to use for helping others. Go for a walk and have a heart to heart. You won’t understand it now but follow what he tells you. If you give he will give back and take care of you in way’s you never dreamed of.
