READ your lease carefully.
Well. . . . closet rod might not have to be fixed by LL.
Write LL requesting that the items be fixed by year-end. List each item and tell LL when you first reported problem to him/her. NOTE obligations of LL from lease

send him something in writing by certified mail and tell him that you would like it fixed within a certain amount of time or you will take proper action. If he doesnt fix it then you can fix it or have someone fix the problems and deduct it from any rent owed. Make sure you keep all reciepts. To “landlord” a backed up toilet doesnt always mean theres been improper use. It could be that the septic needs to be drained.

Your landlord should not be fixing he toilet. A backed up toilet is caused by improper use.

A porch light could be either burned out or a short. If a new bulb does not fix it give the landlord a call. If you have access to the circuit breakers you might try flipping them first.

I am not sure how a closet rod would fall, they literally last forever, there are no moving parts. You might try putting it back and figuring out how it would come out in the first place.

The water sounds like your abuse of the toilet is causing further damage to the unit. You may need to suck it up and pay a plumber (I hate paying them, this will cost about 300) if you are not managing wit a plunger. More often then not a toy or something of that nature was flushed.

Dont give him his rent until he fixes the problems, legally he cant let u rent and not repair, its the LAW!!!

What does the landlord say when you ask him to have these items repaired? Read your lease and see whose responsibility it is to have the toilet unplugged.

Often the landlord turns the apartment over to the tenant with everything in working condition and the lease spells out that it is the tenant’s responsibility to keep everything in working order.

When you signed the lease you should have had a walk-through with the manager or landlord. Were these items broken and noted on the walk-through? If they weren’t then probably these things were damaged by you from the landlord’s point of view. He would expect you to repair or hire someone to repair these things.

If your toilet is backed up that is probably because you put something down it that wont go through, like too much toilet paper in one go. So why not use a plunger. Why should your landlord do that?

How did the porch light get broken? Is it just the bulb or did you damage it some way?

How did the outlet become exposed. I assume it was not exposed when you moved in so did you damage it since then?

The closet rod must have fallen down while you were using it.

Water in your closet. What is that caused by? Is it just the silicone split and in that case can’t you repair it?

These really look like problems you perhaps made and perhaps should put right.

Report him to the Housing Authority or the Building Code Enforcement Officer in your municipality
