Can I Rent a Flat in England Without a Job?

I’m interested in staying in England for a year or so and I’d like to rent a flat. Is it possible to rent a place in England without a job as long as I have a lot of money as proof and the proper references? I’m not interested in locating there through a specific scheme. I’m just mainly interested in a long-term vacation but don’t want to rent holiday accomodation.

what is flat in england ?
You probably have to put down three months rent (first month, last month, security deposit). Your lease will probably also have a clause saying you must pay by cashier’s check by the first of the month. You would also probably have to go through an agent who checks out your paperwork to see those references and that lot of money. An agent usually gets a month’s rent as a fee so there is more up-front cash.
If you are not as lucky you might have to put the whole year’s rent in escrow or get a co-signer who would be liable if you broke the lease.
