Hiya, im from newcastle but moved away last year. My sister recently got a 2 bed house from the council and she only pays I think its £58pw so a flat would be abit less. Not sure on the tax though.
Good luck…its hard getting anything from the council although their new system is alot better I think…the bidding thing.
EDIT - Not exactly sure which part you are from but I was from Gateshead and here is their websites about how to apply for housing….might actually be different in Newcastle itself and you might have better luck finding your own areas council.
EDIT - about wanting a flat on your own. You may find it difficult getting a flat on your own as there is probabley a greater deal of others that need housing more than you. They tend to give priority over couples and families.
The only hope in getting one on your own is if maybe you were being abused by family or neighbours and need to get away from where you are. Or maybe if you were pregnant or had your own child this would gain you more points.
In Gateshead It was all about points….the more points you had then you would win the bid on the house / flat. The council look at it as to who needs housing more.
Hope i’ve helped and good luck xx
Your welcome sexi198846…..thats what this site is for
