Generally speaking household utilities are NOT included in rent unless otherwise clearly stated, so this leaves you to pay on top of the £400 rent:
(mine is for two people but we keep costs down, I pay a set amount every month by payment card, which you can use at pay points in supermarkets and newsagents. Some choose to pay by direct debit from their bank but I prefer not to, as they can change the amount you pay)
Water (Mine is £15 a month)
Electricity (mine is £25 - £30
Gas (for heating) (Mine is £10 in summer and £20 in winter
TV Licence (if you watch TV and have an ariel plugged in you need to pay this and is around £12 a month)
BT Landline (you have choices of combining your landline and internet but most people will need a landline supplied via BT - basic line rental is around £12- £13 a month and that’s without call charges)
Internet (I get mine from O2 as I am a customer already and is £7.50 a month)
Now the last and final MOST important is council tax, this you pay every month to whatever local council (area) you live in and pays for items like bin collections, streetlights etc etc
The charges vary from area to area and is based upon the value of the property even if you rent.
Mine is around £109 a month for our two bed flat.
One other thing you might like to get is contents insurance for your belongings because if anything happens like theft or say a flood/fire your landlord is NOT responsible for those costs.
Obviously don’t forget to include: food, clothes, travel, mobile phone costs, hair maintenance etc etc into your budget.
Any other help you may need, please do feel free to email me! :0)
depends where you’re going to live.
Generally, up north, it’s cheaper - you could rent a 2 bedroom house in Liverpool for £400 a month, but down south (and the nearer you get to London) it’s about £1000 a month (minimum) to rent a 2 bed. house.
that does not usually include *any* bills, it’s just your basic rent.
