What your trainer is doing is wrong. She is falsely advertising her horse as being a calm trail horse who has gone on tons of trail rides. What she really has is a barely broke horse who spooks at everything and isn’t the gelding she says he is.

You did everything you could at the time by ‘ruining’ the sale. Now you might be able to do a bit more (depending on your location and local laws). Your trainer is putting people and other animals in danger by not disclosing the full history of this horse. Do a little research and find out what your local laws are, if there is one that addresses this situation, contact the proper authorities.

In the meantime, switch trainers. You don’t have to tell your current trainer why you’re making the change if you don’t want to. A trainer like her seems like a dangerous trainer to have.

a lot of horse people are crazy and deceiving, the longer you are in the horse business the more you will find this out. you always want to check a horse multiple times before you buy it, have it vetted out and so on. i learned this the hard way. i bought a 10 year old arab show horse. the lady had given him calm and cool. when i brought him home he was a different horse. it turned out he had never really been outside his stall. he weaves and cribs and hates to be stalled.

I think you did the right thing by telling the buyer the truth about the horse. I do think that what your trainer is doing is wrong, it’s not just you. I know I’d be upset if I bought what I thought was a calm trail horse that turned out to be a crazy spooks-at-everything horse.

I really don’t know what there is that you can do… sorry.

If the trainer in question cannot be honest with potential clients, then said trainer should not be a professional trainer because people put their trust in trainers. If anyone else asks you about the horse I would still be honest. That is the most important thing is that you are being honest. If the trainer ever confronts you or says you are lying or tells a client that you are lying and they ask you, reference the vet. Since the vet did a consult on the horse.

she’s wrong you did the right thing just this ladyu should ride this horse before she buys him anyway and the lady will see that she’s lieing. You should go to her house and talk 2 her.

Hey your right all the way. It is one thing if you were lying or just tri=yig to have her not sell him because you love him. But you did it for the saftey of the other woman and her horses. WAY TO GO! your trainer not a good person, far from it. Find a new trainer and forget about her. GOOD JOB THOUGH! its awesome that you let the lady know
