I live in an apartment in S. California and I’m a month/month rent tenant.
My sink got clogged up and I ask the manager to have it fixed. She came over with that un-clogging liquid stuff and poured it into my sink and I guess it fixed it. She told me that I have to pay for the product price because she bought it and fixed it for me.
I was kind of confused because I have lived in other apartments and no matter what the manager or owner fixed it for me with no expense.
Who’s right…whos not……or it all depends on what apartment you live on? Owner is responsible or me? I don’t know…=(

Sell and Rent Back

I live in an apartment complex and was told no convicted child molesters live here by the landlord… Only to find out 6 months later that there is one living here. Now they are kicking him out but trying to keep it a secret from the other tenants… Is there a law for me to get my rent back that I paid while he was living here ??? Please help me out. Thank you. Sell House Quick

I put up flyers for pc work around my apartment complex. I then received a message from the property manager that she was going to have me arrested if she found anymore around her property. However, i get at least 2-3 flyers a week right on my front door, and those around me. Is this really solicitation on my part? And how is it any different from the flyers I receive?
Of course, I can’t say for sure that the manager does not call the others and leave them threatening messages as well. But I assume that either she hasn’t, or just doesn’t care about theirs, because its the exact same flyers that circulate every few weeks…
She did not know who I was at all. She had initally said she would also have me arrested for trespassing until I told her that I was a tenant of her apartment complex… I just thought she could go about telling me not to put them up in a nicer way. Instead, I had an answering machine message of her yelling into the phone and threatening to arrest me
Thank you all for the answers so far. I agree, I should have asked for permission first. It was my ignorance that sparked the situation. Tho i don’t think the way the property manager handled it was very nice either…

Rent Back

As a “handyman” I did some repair work in an apartment complex, and found that the bathroom has a serious mold and rot issue. I did take pictures. But the property manager told me to “just pour bleach on it”. I know the proper remedy would be to remove and replace so I refused to cover it back up. Who can i report this issue to?
