We want to rent a 2 bed flat or house in or around St. Neots because it works out cheaper to share this with 1 or 2 others than to rent a 1 bed place. Does anyone also want to do this, or where can I find someone?
yeah i’ve found places we’re interested in on rightmove.co.uk, it’s just finding someone to share with! thanks.

Issue with rent increase (UK only)?

rent flat uk

Can anyone please give me some advice for a tenancy issue I have?

I currently live in a private rented flat in Londin and the ‘landlady’ has just asked for an increase in rent from me.

It’s a 2 bedroom flat but there are 3 of us living here as she is sub-letting to me and possibly the other individual who lives here too.

She is not the owner of the property but it is rented in her name via a Letting Agent. I’m not sure if she has the agreement from the real Landlord to sublet but I think it’s unlikely.

A month after I moved in she asked me to sign a basic tenancy agreement she had drawn up which stated how much the rent was, when it should be paid, stuff about cleaning the flat etc.

It also said she would review the rent after 3 months but I declined to sign it as this wasn’t something we’d agreed when I first moved in. She agreed that we hadn’t discussed this, wasn’t applicable to me and she wouldn’t be reviewing the rent. I trusted her so stupidly signed the agreement without deleting that part as I felt we had a verbal agreement she would not review the rent!

Anyway, I’ve lived here for 4 months and now she is asking for an extra £70 a month from me. Not a massive amount but it’s the principle!

What I would like to know is, does she have the right to increase the rent like that and if I refuse to pay the extra rent does this ‘tenancy agreement’ she drew up herself have any legal worth?

Any help and advice is much appreciated.
Sorry meant to type I live in London not Londin! Also, I called my local citizens advice bureau but they have a 1 month waiting list for an appointment!
she is charging me £70 a month more! Not sure if she has asked the other person for an increase.

I am living in a 1 bedroom flat which i rent privately in London/UK. We also have a 1 year old baby living with us. When we rented the place we didn’t have the baby and 1 bedroom was sufficient. Now having baby brought the requirement for extra room. So we decided to move to a 2 bedroom flat. We found the new place and posted our 30 days notice for intention of moving. Apparently Landlord receive the letter after a week or so. Since then she believes she has the right to to come in to the flat whenever she wants with possible new tenants to show the flat without even asking our permission. When we complained to her she said we were very unreasonable and it was in our contract to let people in anytime without notice to see the place. And also when we also mentioned that it wasn’t true. She threatened us with not paying our deposit for the flat back. She says that when we moved in to flat we didn’t have a baby now we do and it is against the contract and she has right to not to pay the

no questions about VISAs please, I am entitled to stay that long. It’s a much needed and deserved long holiday break :)
I have never shared a flat with complete strangers however, I would do that through a reputable estate agent, as I am a little terrified of living on my own in LA. What do you think?

Can I Rent a Flat in England Without a Job?

rent flat

I’m interested in staying in England for a year or so and I’d like to rent a flat. Is it possible to rent a place in England without a job as long as I have a lot of money as proof and the proper references? I’m not interested in locating there through a specific scheme. I’m just mainly interested in a long-term vacation but don’t want to rent holiday accomodation.
