I am looking for a flat to rent which is fine, but I don’t know what I am supposed to pay before I can move in. I know about an admin fee and a deposit but one of the agents said something about paying some of your first months rent up front then it comes off of your next payment or something like that. Can anyone please help to explain to me as it is my partner who is away that is paying and I need t explain to him fully.
Thank you

I would like to know if it is possible to rent a little flat or a room during a week of holidays, or if it is best to go to a hotel.

If someone knows a cheap hotel, could you tell me a way of contact, by mail for example.

And, about the transport. What is best? Zone 2 or 3?

Thanks.

There is a collapsing ceiling, faulty electrics, mice, broken window, broken washing machine and no curtains or heating. It has been a hell hole since I moved in and they are taking way too long to fix it up. I just want to leave I’ve had enough.
Everytime they fix one thing, something else goes wrong it is disgusting here. I have been assured that my landlord is breaching the contract, so I can do the same by leaving, but they will withold my deposit (£750) and they could take me to court to claim the rest of fixed term rent (£7500) I am getting environmental health etc involved, but they will write letters to push my landlord to do the repairs. I feel it’s gone on too long I don’t want to wait anymore. I have to pay my rent romorrow - I really don’t want to I’m not even staying there. Should I cut my losses, not pay and get evicted? Or risk having to stay here while they slowly do repairs. Thank you so much for any help.

I am currently based in USA and am thinking of accepting a job offer in Mumbai.

Assuming that I rent a flat/apartment in Mumbai for INR 50,000/month or INR 6,00,000 a year, could I claim this rent expense to reduce my taxable income.

I also heard that you may or may not be able to do this based in whether your company provides HRA- what is that clause?

I am new to this process- any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks

We want to rent a 2 bed flat or house in or around St. Neots because it works out cheaper to share this with 1 or 2 others than to rent a 1 bed place. Does anyone also want to do this, or where can I find someone?
yeah i’ve found places we’re interested in on rightmove.co.uk, it’s just finding someone to share with! thanks.

Issue with rent increase (UK only)?

rent flat uk

Can anyone please give me some advice for a tenancy issue I have?

I currently live in a private rented flat in Londin and the ‘landlady’ has just asked for an increase in rent from me.

It’s a 2 bedroom flat but there are 3 of us living here as she is sub-letting to me and possibly the other individual who lives here too.

She is not the owner of the property but it is rented in her name via a Letting Agent. I’m not sure if she has the agreement from the real Landlord to sublet but I think it’s unlikely.

A month after I moved in she asked me to sign a basic tenancy agreement she had drawn up which stated how much the rent was, when it should be paid, stuff about cleaning the flat etc.

It also said she would review the rent after 3 months but I declined to sign it as this wasn’t something we’d agreed when I first moved in. She agreed that we hadn’t discussed this, wasn’t applicable to me and she wouldn’t be reviewing the rent. I trusted her so stupidly signed the agreement without deleting that part as I felt we had a verbal agreement she would not review the rent!

Anyway, I’ve lived here for 4 months and now she is asking for an extra £70 a month from me. Not a massive amount but it’s the principle!

What I would like to know is, does she have the right to increase the rent like that and if I refuse to pay the extra rent does this ‘tenancy agreement’ she drew up herself have any legal worth?

Any help and advice is much appreciated.
Sorry meant to type I live in London not Londin! Also, I called my local citizens advice bureau but they have a 1 month waiting list for an appointment!
she is charging me £70 a month more! Not sure if she has asked the other person for an increase.

I know how much, roughly my rent alone will cost. (£300 - £400 a month). I have furniture, and I just wondered if anyone new how much roughyl the rest would cost.
For example, council tax, water, gas, electricity bills, phone bills, tv licence, groceries, and whatever else I will need to pay. Any help at all would be amazing. Thankyou xx
