I’m Canadian and would like to live in the UK with my boyfriend. I would appreciate only serious answers from people who have/have had one in the past.
1) Would I be covered by the NHS, would I have to pay a fee per month/year, or would I just have to pay for anything I may need out of my own pocket? ie; If I got pregnant..
2) “In terms of immigration to the UK, settled status means that a permanent resident is living here lawfully with no time limit on their stay.” My partner can BE a British citizen, right? Born & raised here?
3) Can the visa be extended, if we have not married in that amount of time, or can I get an Indefinite Leave to Remain?
4) If we wanted to rent a house/flat out, can it be rented out to my name?
5) Do I have to have a certain amount of money in my possession before they will let me come to the UK on a De Facto visa? ie; On a Working Holiday Maker’s Visa to Canada from the UK, you must have at least 500£
6) Cost of the De Facto Visa? Thanks for all of your help
I would actually appreciate as much information on this as possible.. Any documents or anything..?
Oh, also about the social insurance number.. I know that’s not what it’s called here.. National something number or something, I’m pulling a blank at the moment.. How long does that usually take to get?
Oh, and how do I go about even applying for this visa? Should I visit the British Embassy when I get back to Canada, or can I just find the paperwork somewhere and fill it out? Will the British Embassy even talk to me? Do I have to make an appointment?
I am so sorry for all of the questions, but I REALLY want this information so I can take care of it ASAP.
My partner was born AFTER 1983..
